How do you create a learning path?

When you want to group courses together and possible run a report on that group of courses or create a goal (deadline), you will create a learning path.

learning paths

Learning Paths are comprised of courses and represent a topic, app, or theme mastery. When completed by a learner they will earn a certificate that can be shared to prove their completion and mastery of the learning path.

When deciding whether to create a badge or a learning path, ask yourself if you want the entity to include a small amount of courses representing the mastery of a skill or micro-skill (Badges) or if you want the entity to include a larger amount of courses representing the mastery of a broader topic, app or theme (Learning Paths).

When creating a learning path you will have a number of fields that will need to be added. You will not be able to publish a learning path until each field is added (you will be able to Save a Draft if need be).

Please note this is also a course in the HQ Learning Path.  If you would like to view the video instead of going through these step by step directions, please click HERE.

  • Learning Path Type (required)- What type of learning path is this (Distance Learning, Earn a Certification, Improve in your Role, Develop a Skill, Master an App, Other). This will help the learner find a relevant learning path.

9

  • Description (required)- Give your users a description of what they will be learning in this Learning Path.

10

Video Link (Optional)- If you have created a video as an introduction to this Learning Path that you would like your users to view prior to beginning the Learning Path, add the link here.  You have the option to embed a video from Youtube, Vimeo or Google Drive.  If you are using a YouTube link, use the URL from your address bar and not the YouTube sharing link.  If you are using a video from your Drive, make sure you have set the permissions so that anyone can view.  When your learners click on the learning path, the video will be at the top of the list of courses.

  • If you don't want everyone to have access to this course, choose the groups you would like to have it under group visibility.  If you are a group admin or creator, you will only see the groups for which you are assigned.

15

16

  • You can also choose to make this learning path visible based on job title. We do not recommend using job titles since learners select their own job title when completing the onboarding questions. They may have a different definition of the job title than you which could cause confusion. Please do not ever use both groups and job titles for visibility.

18

  • You have the option to use another learning path as a prerequisite.  This means, this learning path will be visible to them, but they won't be able to click on it until they have completed the one you have chosen.

14

  • Add Courses (required)- The most important part of creating a learning path is deciding which courses to include! You will be able to choose from the full library of global MobileMind courses along with courses created by your district. We include several filters along with courses descriptions to helps choose what's right for your learning path.  If you want to select courses that are from your district, use the source filtering option and click on your district.

19.2

  • Save Learning Path- Click the preview button in the upper right to see what your learning path card and certificate will look like.

21

23

24

  • Click Save Draft or Publish if you are ready for your Learning Path to go live.  If you haven't completed all of the required sections, you will not have the option to publish.  You will see the status of the learning path in your list.

25

27

  • If you no longer wish to make this learning path visible to your learners, you can click on it and check the archive box on the left under the image.  The Publish button will now say Archive.  You can click that and that will be indicated in the status column of your list.
