How do you create a rubric in MobileMind for educator evaluations and walkthroughs?
Building Effective Rubrics for MobileMind Teacher Observations
Strong teacher evaluation hinges on clear and consistent feedback. MobileMind empowers educators with observation tools, and a key component is the rubric. This guide will equip you to craft effective rubrics within MobileMind, ensuring focused observations and actionable feedback for your teachers.
Teacher observations are more than just evaluation. They serve as a crucial link, tying all professional development (PD) efforts together. By aligning your rubrics with the PD initiatives offered through MobileMind, you can create a cohesive learning cycle. Observations can identify areas for growth, and MobileMind's personalized PD components can provide targeted support.
Roles needed
In order to be able to create rubrics in MobileMind, you must have the role of Org Admin.
In order to be able to view completed rubrics in MobileMind, you must have the role Org Observation Admin or Group Observation Admin.
If a person should only be able to complete a rubric and not view other completed rubrics, they should have the role of Org Observer or Group Observer.
To create a rubric:
- Go to your HQ Dashboard and click Content > Create > Rubric.

- Click Create Rubric

- Type in the following information:
- Rubric Title
- Domain Name & Description

- Continue entering the following rubric information:
- Criterion #1 Title & Description
- Level Name & Description
- Point Value for each criterion level

- Continue to add more criterion as needed for this domain.

- Click Add Domain and repeat the steps until you have all needed domains and criterion entered.

Using Checkboxes in your Rubrics
You may be doing an observation where you are looking to see specific behaviors. In this case, you may want to have the option to use checkboxes.
When creating your rubric, you now have the option to choose to use Levels for the criterion as before or you can choose to use checkboxes.

Add the description for each checkbox. You can add more items in your list as needed by clicking Add Checkbox in the bottom right.

You can now give a point value for each option.

You have the option to choose a max score for this criterion. I have five options for this criterion, but I don’t want to penalize a teacher if I don’t see all of them so I will set the max score for this criterion at 3.

Now I am going to add my next criteria. You can choose to do more checkboxes or you can use the levels.

When your rubric has been created and you are ready to observe a teacher, you will see that you can check all the boxes, but since I set the max score for that criteria to be three points, that will be their total.

If I only check two boxes, they will receive those two points. You can choose to use the point system however is most beneficial for your district.
