What are some tips for getting teachers engaged in MobileMind?

"If you build it, they will come!"

This is a question we get asked quite often and we have been gathering ideas for you from other districts. We have found that once teachers see how quickly they can learn skills that benefit them in their classrooms, they will keep coming to learn more! Other teachers just like to see their name on top of the leader boards!

take your mark

Have a little friendly competition. Create a badge or use on of ours and send an announcement with the deadline for completing the badge. You could let everyone who completes it earn the prize or they could be entered into a drawing for the prize. You could offer one of the following incentives:

  • Jeans Day Pass (We can even create a custom pass for you to share!)
  • Drawing for a lunch to be delivered to their school during their lunch time
  • Pay for a conference registration of their choice
  • Late In or Early Out pass
  • Gift card to spend on classroom supplies
  • Coffee and pastries in the break room for those that earned the badge
  • A themed treat bag for whatever holiday falls in that month
  • Drawing for school or district swag (t-shirt, coffee mug, notepad, etc)

join the team

Recruit people at the school level to join your MobileMind team. Don't try to do this alone! As former educators ourselves, we know that when we see another teacher doing something great, we want to learn how to do it as well. Why not allow those teachers that are doing great things create some content for their colleagues? (For more detailed information on MobileMind admin roles, see the articles on HQ Roles under HQ- Users and Groups.)

  • Recruit at least one person at each school to be a Creator and allow them to create a team of Drafters. You can do this at the org or group level. Drafters can create content, but not publish. Creators can look over the content and then hit the publish button!
  • Select a person at each school to be a Scheduler. This person can create events for any  meetings that are going on at their school. Since teachers and staff can integrate their MobileMind calendar with their Google calendar they will get meeting reminders and updates however they normally get those notifications.
  • It has become increasingly difficult to find substitutes as well as find the money to pay them. If you have teachers doing great things in their classrooms, go record them and create a course, badge, or learning path around what they are doing and share with your staff. They all want to see how other teachers are doing things, let's make it easy on them to observe!

what do you think
Send Surveys out to your teachers and staff.

  • Create a course asking teachers what they want to learn and attach it to a badge to it.
  • Ask them what kinds of courses they would like to see in MobileMind.
  • Make it a little friendly competition or offer an incentive (ideas listed above).
  • On the survey, ask if anyone is willing to be a content creator as well!
